We've got snow on the ground about six months a year. It gets below zero, wind off the lake can drop visibility to nothing, and in December it's dark by five, so a lot of winter tasks run at night.
Your opposite season weather gear needs to be available for all searches as unpredictable weather changes do happen
Items with no tag get carried year round. Switch the season below and the list shows you what you're actually packing tonight. CORE marks the survival set: light, fire, shelter, water, food, signal, navigation, cutting and cordage. Those are the ones to carry spares of.
What actually causes problems in the field
The go bag covers the NASAR SARTECH II minimum equipment list for a non urban 24 hour ready pack.
NASAR's pack floor is 2,400 cubic inches, about 39 litres. If you're testing for SARTECH II you'll
need the rope, hardware and a tracking stick as well.
